I have one annoying issue with your otherwise remarkable font toolset. What I am craving for is the ability to adjust line height in the FontMachine editor.

As far as I understand, the editor takes this information from the font itself. As a result, for a font like Segoe Print Bold rendered at 24 points drawingSize.y passed to the fontmachine module is 45 pixels. Measured in Photoshop, the vertical distance between the top of “f” to the bottom of “g” is 29 pixels (packed font rendered with shadow only). This creates quite a large line spacing. In all fairness, when I look at Segoe Print in Windows Font Viewer, the line spacing is also freakishly large.

Ideally, it would be nice to have an option to render the font from the editor with a custom line height. If you trust me with the source code, I could probably add this option myself (and I pinky-swear I will not share the source with anybody :)

Otherwise, I am left begging for the editor update as soon as humanly possible. Meanwhile, I will hack the fontmachine module to implement custom line height, which is not ideal since the packed texture is still much larger than it could be, and mobile memory is still a constraint these days.

I need to implement an optimizer in the font packer. I’ll do it soon.
